WTCS Samarkand 2026

First ever Top 10 result in a WTCS race for a Dutch male athlete!

I felt strong throughout the entire race and honestly surprised myself with this performance. Normally, this type of course would not really play to my strengths. The bike course was not selective enough to create major gaps, so I knew it would most likely turn into a running race.

That turned out to be exactly the case, but it also showed me that I had taken a real step forward with my running. I did not have the best start to the run, but stayed composed, kept fighting, and gradually worked my way through the field to finish inside the Top 10.

This race gave me a huge boost in confidence and showed me that all the hard work is starting to come together.
